An overview

Artà, in the far north-east of Mallorca, stretches over some 140 km² and offers an impressive variety of landscapes. The area is shaped by the gently rising range of the Serres de Llevant, whose highest point, the Puig Morei (also known as Talaia Freda), reaches 561 metres. These gentle hills offer varied scenery with wide valleys in which traditional almond and olive groves shape the picture, terraced with dry stone walls that make cultivation possible on the steeper slopes.
The climate
in Artà

Artà is marked by a pleasantly mild Mediterranean climate that offers mild temperatures and a high number of sunny days all year round. The combination of mild winters, warm summers and low humidity makes the region particularly appealing, with summer highs of up to 29 °C in July and August and winter temperatures above 5 °C.
The distribution of rainfall is typical of the Mediterranean climate: the summer months from June to August are largely dry, while in autumn rainfall rises and reaches its peak in November.
With more than 300 sunny days a year, Artà offers ideal conditions for outdoor activities such as walking, cycling or visiting the nearby beaches.

Golf, walking and beaches
The area around Artà achieves a successful combination of relaxation close to nature and cultural variety. Golfers will find four renowned courses nearby — Capdepera, Canyamel, Pula and Son Servera — all a short drive away.
For walkers and cyclists the hilly landscape of the Serres de Llevant offers numerous routes with impressive views, for instance to the Ermita de Betlem or along the Via Verde, a cycle path on a former railway line.
The coast attracts with unspoilt beaches such as wild Cala Torta, family-friendly Cala Mesquida or quiet Platja de Colònia de Sant Pere. Water sports such as sailing, diving or stand-up paddling are possible in the nearby coastal villages.
Culture, museum and festivals
Culturally Artà impresses with the pilgrimage church of Sant Salvador, which crowns the town and offers a panoramic view. The regional museum on the Plaça d’Espanya presents archaeological finds and ethnological collections. Artà also has a theatre with a regular programme.
Traditional festivals such as Sant Antoni and the patronal festival of Sant Salvador reflect the living Mallorcan culture. Despite all this variety, Artà remains a quiet place away from mass tourism, shaped by authentic village life and sustainable, quality tourism.
Connections and mobility
Despite its quiet setting, Artà has good transport links. Via the well-built Ma-15 road, drivers reach the island capital of Palma and the international airport in about an hour. The nearby town of Manacor can be reached in around 25 minutes.
Local public transport is served by several bus lines of the Consorci de Transports de Mallorca (TIB). They connect Artà with surrounding places such as Cala Rajada, Manacor and Colònia de Sant Pere. There is currently no rail link; the former line from Manacor to Artà was closed in 1977.
For everyday life we recommend having a car in order to stay flexible and reach the many places to visit and beaches in the area with ease.
Shops, schools and doctors
Artà offers very good infrastructure for everyday needs and a pleasant setting for locals and newcomers alike. In the historic centre you will find supermarkets, bakeries, boutiques and numerous restaurants and bars — many of them in charmingly restored buildings with a typically Mallorcan atmosphere. The offering is rounded off by two weekly markets.
For families with children, nurseries and schools are available in Artà, where lessons are generally in Catalan and Spanish. Further education such as vocational colleges is found in the nearby town of Manacor. International schools such as the English-language Rafa Nadal International School in Manacor widen the options, particularly for families from abroad.
Medical care is reliable too: Artà itself has a health centre (Centro de Salud) for general care and emergencies, which is to be extended by a modern new building. For specialist or more extensive treatment the well-equipped Hospital de Manacor, about 30 kilometres away, is available. The offering is complemented by multilingual private doctors and clinics in places shaped by tourism, such as Cala Rajada, so that comprehensive medical care is assured at all times.

in Artà
Artà offers a varied choice of property that combines the traditional charm of Mallorca with modern comfort. Particularly sought after are natural stone fincas in the surrounding countryside, with generous grounds and often a pool. In the historic old town, lovingly renovated village houses are very popular, conveying an authentic way of living with courtyards or terraces. Modern villas with contemporary fittings and often a sea view round off the offering. For single people or couples, apartments in smaller developments or traditional buildings are an attractive option.

Price trends for property
in Artà in 2026
In 2026 the property market in Artà shows a steady upward trend. According to current data the average asking price for property for sale is about €3,716 per square metre, an increase of around 9.94 per cent compared with the previous year. Artà thus remains below the Balearic average of €5,246/m² in price, but continues to offer attractive potential for growth in value.
The limited availability of property contributes to the movement in prices. Strong demand, particularly from international buyers, and the limited supply — because of the protected natural areas, for instance — make for solid growth in value. Many new and old houses in the area are now used as holiday properties, which further encourages investment. Overall Artà presents itself as an attractive location for buyers who value an authentic setting, closeness to nature and good value for money. In Mallorca the agent is often more important than the property itself. We help you find the right specialist for your needs.

Demand for holiday houses in this area is high and continues to grow, so that lucrative income is possible from letting to visitors. Anyone wanting to benefit from rising property values over the long term also makes a sound choice with Artà — the north-east still has ground to make up on more expensive parts of the island, and prices are rising steadily.
Active people and sports enthusiasts
Sports enthusiasts get their money’s worth in Artà. Four renowned golf courses lie nearby. Tennis, riding, walking and cycling are popular pastimes in the area too. Artà is therefore ideal for anyone wanting to keep an active way of life day to day.
Those interested in culture and good food
As a traditional small town with a long history, Artà offers plenty of variety for those interested in culture.
